Having been a Canucks fan all my life it is easy to support our local hockey franchise! Everyone remembers the magical run in 94 with Pavel Bure and Trevor Linden. Since then, our chances have been slim even with the likes of Burtuzzi and Nasland. Some say that we would have had a legitimate chance if we had any other goal tender in the world other than Dan Cloutier, curse the name that is now synonymous with a renowned cooking utensil; the SIV. Ohhh how far we have come to have acquired one of the best goalies in the league. If ever there was a year for canuckle fans to rejoice is the due to be famous 2009/2010 run for the cup with the top scoring player in the league, Henrik Sedin, we are sure to make a splash in the playoffs.

Last Monday we played the LA Kings in the crucial game 3, the nucks came out with a lot of energy and struck first to an LA team that seemed to be on their heels. The game was close until the second period where we were outscored 3 to 1. I’m a believer in Luongo but this was not a good showing for him, three goals scored in the second broke the back of the canucks who needed better goal tending to advance to the next round. Not all of these goals were the fault of the canuck net miner but the bottom line is that Luongo is considered to be one of the best in the league! He needs to be rock solid and bring a consistent performance every night. Not being selected as a candidate for the Vezina Trophy is a low blow despite Luongo’s success this year. Statistically, Luongo has not broken the top three goalies this year and needs to showcase his skills to prove himself. Without him, we might find ourselves in similar situations like many years past “Cloutier’in” out!
